Packing day! I fly out tomorrow so I've been doing a couple of practice packs trying to win at bag-tetris.
My stuff laid out on the bed.
My packing list (including the things I'm going to wear to the airport) is:
- Clothes:
- 7 shirts (6 short sleeved and 1 long sleeved)
- 4 pants (1 jeans, 1 long travel pant, 2 shorts - suspect the shorts may be ditched when I get to Denmark)
- 8 pairs of underwear
- 5 pairs of socks
- 1 pair of thongs / flip-flops
- 1 pair of boots
- 1 jacket
- Toiletries:
- 1 toothbrush
- 1 toothpaste
- 1 roll-on deodorant
- 4 bandaids
- 1 hand sanitiser
- 1 container of liquid soap
- Earplugs
- Travel soap leaves
- Anti-poop pills
- Tech
- 1 iPad with detachable keyboard
- 1 Mobile phone
- 2 Battery packs
- 1 multiport USB charger with universal adaptors
- 4 charging cables (3 micro USB and 1 iPad cable)
- 1 OTG cable
- 1 set of headphones
- 1 USB stick
- Miscellaneous
- 1 Sleeping bag (large grey sack)
- 1 Sleeping bag liner (medium red sack)
- 1 Daybag (small yellow sack)
- 1 Small microfibre towel
- 1 Eyemask
- Portable Clothesline
- 1 book
- 4 packing cells
- 1 document wallet with passport etc...
- 1 waterbottle
- 1 wallet with cash and cards
- 2 carabiners hooked to the side of the bag
- Glasses
- Sunglasses
I think that's it.
So after stuffing my packing cells it looks like this:
I still don't think I've got the optimal setup but it all fits in the bag!
My problem now is the weight of the bag. Last measure was about 11.5kg which is well over the 7kg for carryon. We'll see how it goes.
For context here is the size of the pack with me wearing it.
They are pretty much never going to weigh your bag if it looks like it will fit. In 13 months my carry on bag was never weighed. Also, ditch a shirt or two and grab a back up pair of headphones.
ReplyDeleteLooking good James. A couple of suggestions:
ReplyDelete* You don't need that many shirts. 3 or 4 short sleeve should be plenty. Whenever you are in a place for >1 night, first thing you do is string up your clothesline and clean your dirty clothes. Occasionally may need to Laundromat if stuck for time.
* If you are really concerned about carry-on weight, wear your heaviest stuff (i.e. hiking boots) - they don't weigh you on the plane, just your bags. Not optimal for travelling but it will get you over the line if they do decide to weigh your pack. In my experience they only do this if the plane is chock full.
Have fun, dude!
